The new season of America’s Got Talent premieres tonight and Simon Cowell is about to be wowed by Taiwanese magician Will Tsai. Tsai, 33, says that he has a dog named Mochi and a cat named Fluffington, but his passion in life is magic. For his AGT audition, the trick he performs, he says he created it just for the show. Using a rose, coins and cards, Tsai creates visual magic, moving the coins in the blink of an eye and transforming them into rose petals. At the start of Tsai’s trick, he told the audience:
I like flowers, because they remind me of how beautiful life is but also very fragile. And that’s why every second counts. In the grand scheme of things, life happens in the blink of an eye. So for the next few moments, don’t blink.
Tsai received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd. Check out the impressive trick in the above video clip.
According to Taiwan News, Tsai wasn’t originally going to perform this trick that he created, as he had another in mind. Unfortunately, the props for the original act were transported from Japan and encountered a problem in clearing U.S. Customs and Border Protection. So, Tsai had to quickly think of something new.
When Tsai and his family immigrated to Canada, he was just 15 years old and his family had great financial problems. To help out, Tsai picked up three part-time jobs. Inspired by a street magic show, he decided to take up a career as a magician.
Tune in to America’s Got Talent tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, and each Tuesday night. Once the live shows begin, episodes will air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well.
