Looking to encourage their country after the senior team’s embarrassing failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the United States is doing a pretty good job of lifting national spirits with their play in India. After qualifying for the knockout stage as a third-place team from their group, the Americans blitzed Group B winner Paraguay in the Round of 16, 5-0.

It was a clinical performance from the Baby Yanks, as Tim Weah bagged a hat trick, while Andrew Carleton and Josh Sargent also found the back of the net:

Of course, things will get decidedly more difficult in the quarterfinals. England dominated group play with three wins, 11 goals and a plus-nine goal differential, and Steve Cooper’s squad was then able to take down a good Japan side via penalty kicks earlier this week.

England is considered the favorite in this one, but if the United States plays anything like they did in the Round of 16, they have a good shot at advancing to the semifinals of this tournament for the first time since 1999.
