On Tuesday around 12 p.m. Eastern, police in Washington D.C. confirmed that they had received reports of an active shooter at Howard University.
Just after 12:20 p.m., Washington DC police sent out a tweet confirming that they are on the scene after receiving a report that there was an active shooter on campus. Although they have not found evidence of this, police encouraged people in the area to “take precautions.” You can see the tweet below.
According to WTOP FM reporter Megan Cloherty, an academic support building has been evacuated by police. In addition, The Hilltop reported that 4th Street had been closed.
So far, a few people have taken to social media to post about the situation. Several people have said that the school has not alerted students about the situation. You can read some of those tweets below.
