One of the most unique professional wrestling pay-per-view events is making a return, and the WWE is pulling out all the stops to replicate its awesomeness. Photos have emerged on social media of the set of NXT TakeOver: WarGames, and it shows that there will indeed be two wrestling rings featured on the floor.
Check out some of the awesome pictures from the stage in Houston, Texas:
Wrestling fans around the world were encouraged in October when the Triple H announced that WarGames, a gimmick match that was originally used in the NWA, would make a return. It was later held every year in WCW, typically at their Fall Brawl PPV. It’s known that the late Dusty Rhodes coined the idea for the match. In it, there are usually either two teams of either four, five or more wrestlers who are locked inside a massive steel cage that covers two rings. It was last used in professional wrestling on September 4, 2000 at WCW Monday Nitro.
The NXT WarGames match will feature three teams: The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) and Roderick Strong; Sanity (Alexander Wolfe, Eric Young and Killian Dain); The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly). The event will be live streamed on the WWE Network beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern with the kickoff show starting at 7:30 p.m.
Other matches on the card include a fatal-four-way match for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship (Ember Moon vs. Kairi Sane vs. Nikki Cross vs. Peyton Royce), Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade Almas for the NXT Championship, Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream and Kassius Ohno vs. Lars Sullivan.
