The teams have been picked. And now it’s time to play.
The first-ever draft for the NBA All-Star Game was held Thursday evening and captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry have made their picks. Instead of the traditional East vs. West format, the league switched it up this year to add a little excitement. The other 22 All-Stars were subject to the draft, so conference and team affiliation meant nothing. That’s how the Cavaliers’ James ended up with Curry’s Golden State teammate Kevin Durant. James also selected former teammate Kyrie Irving, now of the Celtics, and Durant’s ex-Oklahoma City teammate Russell Westbrook. Curry was able to nab his own Warriors teammates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as well as Houston’s James Harden.
