A Perfect Circle is about to embark on a North American tour that will last until the end of the year. Before they do, though, the band released a new single likely off their new upcoming album.
The song is titled “The Doomed” and was teased cryptically on the band’s social media accounts last week. At midnight Monday, the band released the new song, and it’s much like you’d expect. It begins with a heavy drum beat before Maynard James Keenan and the rest of bend kicks in and finishes on a heavy not.
“Good luck, you’re on your own,” Keenan sings before the song transitions slowly to the chorus.
“F***k the new, you’re on your own,” the song concludes.

The new song is another piece of new material released by the band since 2004’s Emotive, and a new studio album is expected some time in the near future.
In past social media posts, Keenan and band mate Billy Howerdel said the process of writing the new album was tedious, adding that several factors made it difficult. They previously said a full album was unlikely and were expected to release single songs instead. A Perfect Circle subsequently released a new song, “By and Down,” which it performed at shows on its tours starting in 2012 and was a track on its greatest hits compilation, Three Sixty.
Earlier this year, the band announced it signed a contract to release a new album through BMG Rights Management, and Howerdel said the album was likely to be released sometime in late 2017 or early 2018. At some shows earlier this year, the band debuted a couple of new tracks. One is called “Feathers” while the other is called “Hourglass.”
A Perfect Circle is about to start its fall tour, with the first show scheduled for October 21 in Sacramento, California at Aftershock Festival. The tour through the United States and Canada wraps up December 4 in Eugene, Oregon.
